It’s the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and I’m sure we are all feeling some level of hustle and bustle. Whether you are hosting or going somewhere, chances are the next 2 to 5 days will be pretty crazy for you and your friends or family. In fact, let’s be honest, the next six weeks will probably be pretty wild for most of us.
This time of year, you see so much content, focusing on thankfulness and gratitude. Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude! Honestly, it is a really nice change from most normal social media. This holiday season, like many others, I find myself extremely thankful for friends and family. When I think about my life and what I cherish, it is always people and experiences.
I decided to reach out and ask some of my closest friends and family what they are thankful for right now, and I’m so happy I did! Check out some of these incredible responses!
“I’m thankful for a loving husband that is always by my side no matter what.”
“I am thankful for my family today. I appreciate having a partner who shared my journey with that part of my life….having 3 children, knowing them from day one and now knowing them; their personalities, some of their friends and hobbies, and their professional life. Keeps me interested in life :).”
“I am thankful to have what I NEED to navigate myself and my son through a very difficult time in our lives.”
“I am thankful my parents are still alive and well. I see many patients in my hospital who are my parents' age or younger and they’re not doing well. It makes me grateful everyday that mine are still with me and have their health and mind.”
“I am so thankful for a turn around in my relationship with my daughter. God is so good. All of my friends’ prayers through this storm uplifted us and showed us the timing.”
“I am thankful to have a happy healthy baby boy ☺️”
“I’m thankful for modern day medicine. Without it my daughter and I wouldn’t be here due to complications at birth. I’m beyond thankful to spend her first Thanksgiving together with my wonderful husband and watching him be an amazing father this holiday season.”
“Today I am thankful for surprise donuts on a crazy workday, and having a warm house and food on the table!”
“I am thankful for the gift of life, creating a family and becoming a mom.”
“I'm thankful for my family and the family I have found with my friends.”
“I am thankful for my circle of friends that started as [clients] pup parents and turned into more…the pups and their people are my blessings”
Obviously, a common theme here is friends and family. Sometimes I find myself overwhelmed with emotion when I think about how incredibly valuable people are to me. I feel incredibly lucky to have a growing and evolving circle of friends.
There are a couple of quotes that I often think of having to do with relationships.
“We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.” -Jim Rohn
“People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.” -Brian A. Chalker
To me, both of these statements remind me how precious every relationship is in our lives. They also remind me that relationships are transactional to our mind, body and soul. Healthy relationships are the only transaction where both parties can give and take freely, generating exponential wealth in the process.
Read that again.

If that statement isn't true in your relationships, maybe take a step back and reevaluate. Remember that it's OK for dynamics to change throughout a relationship, but you should feel supported and secure even in tumultuous times. Take a look at our previous blog, "A Practical Guide to Building Your Support Group" if you could use some suggestions on making new connections.
