Compensation varies but in the United States, the average base pay is typically between $45,000-$55,000 (generally more for experienced surrogates). At Little Miracles Surrogacy, we have a base pay of $50,000.
2. Are all medical expenses covered?
Yes! The intended parents cover all medical costs, insurance, and any additional pregnancy-related expenses. These are all in addition to the base pay.
3. Does surrogacy affect my insurance?
Some insurance plans cover costs associated with surrogacy, while others don’t. If yours doesn’t, the intended parents will purchase a special surrogacy-friendly policy for you. If you are planning to become a surrogate, selecting a surrogate friendly insurance during open enrollment may make you a more desirable surrogate.
4. Will I get paid even if I have a miscarriage?
Yes, surrogates receive compensation even if the pregnancy does not continue. Your contract will specify the terms, generally you are compensated up until the date of loss, which can include a prorated payment.
